Question
Does everybody have an ego?  And if so, how can they be conscious?  In essence, I am wondering if an ego or 'identity' is blockage towards a heightening of consciousness.

Answer
Hello Josh,
Consciousness is 'to know' and by increasing your knowledge of things, e.g. by following the 8fold path as taught in Advayavada Buddhism, the nature or content of your ego, which is the idea you have of yourself, will change accordingly.
Kind regards,
Advayavadananda.
