What do Buddhist think of organ donation?
Buddhists are encouraged to donate their organs.

Why do Buddhist believes this?
Because it gives benefits to the recipients.


Is there different viewpoints?
I don't think so.

What does the Tibetan Buddhist believe in organ donation?
Same as all Buddhists.

Why do Tibetan Buddhist believes this?
Same answer.

Is the action harmful to oneself?
No.  Either the donor is already dead, or donating a particular organ is not life threatening.

Is the action beneficial?
Of course, especially to the recipient.

Experience

I was brought up in the 50's as a Buddhist. For the past 40 years I have read numerous books on Buddhism and listened to numerous talks on Buddhism by well-respected and learned monks and lay teachers. I conduct Buddhist classes for parents of Sunday School children in a Theravada Buddhist Temple. My teacher was the late Chief Reverend, The Ven.
