Question
Will you please tell me about Buddist astrology?  I have begun searching for a spirituality that makes an impact in my life, Buddhism seems to be that path for me.  

I have never heard of Buddhist astrology before. My fiancee and I are interested in a Buddhist wedding ceremony, but we read that  we would need to have an astrology reading in the Buddhist tradition first.

Please explain about this subject.  Thank you.  Shanna

Hi Shanna,

I am sorry to disappoint you that there is nothing about astrology in Buddhism.  Some may lead you to believe that there is such a thing as "Buddhist astrology".  Buddhism is about contentment and inner peace based on intelligent thinking by using one's common sense and human intelligence.  There is also no such thing as a Buddhist wedding ceremony.  The Buddha taught about how to live a harmless contented life by reducing greed hatred and delusion.  In India even at the time of the Buddha, Indian culture was already firmly established.  The Buddha need not have to "invent" any wedding ceremony for his followers.  

Whatever you may see as a "Buddhist" wedding ceremony will be merely the work of present Buddhists trying to incorporate Buddhist rites and rituals into existing traditions.  This in a way is laudable as it adds "social life" to Buddhism.
