Question
Hi. My name is Mike Hamper and I am taking a Virtual High School class called Eastern and Western Thought.  Right now we are studying Buddhism and I need to ask an expert three questions.  My three are Where and how does Buddhism fit in the modern world?, Why/When did you become a Buddhist?, How do you personally practice Buddhism?.  Thank you for your comments.

Answer
Thank you Mike for your questions. I wish you well with your studies in Eastern and Western thought.

There is now a wealth of general information on the Web and in books in the english language - so I assume you have or will study this as background.

In terms of the personal level.

<<Where and how does Buddhism fit in the modern world?,>>
Buddhism is a system for waking up to the real nature of the mind and world.   Modern psychologists
still do no understand consciousness, modern scientists still do not understand a unified theory of the world.
The search for truth and meaning is as relevant in the modern
world as it was in the ancient world.

<<Why/When did you become a Buddhist?>>
At the age of 14 having realised that meditation was
a route to understanding the mind and that Buddhism had
adepts in meditation.
<<
How do you personally practice Buddhism?.
>>
I meditate daily - I also live my my life through the
principles of Buddhism.
Thank you for your comments.
