Buddhists/Reincarnation Question

Question
Hi, my name is Shawna.  I've been interested in buddhism for a couple of years now.  This topic came up at my place of employment today and I need a little help to give an answer to what I was asked.  Since Buddhists believe in reincarnation, then why does the earth seem to keep "over-populating"?

Answer
Hi Shawna
This is an old question . The Buddhist and Hindu views
of the universe are much vaster and bigger than Western
science. There  are countless worlds and universes
throughout space which contain vast numbers of beings.
There are different types of beings in these universes.

SO if someone dies in this world they could be reborn
anywhere in any world. So over-populating is nothing
to do with reincarnation really - its just to do
with human breeding! There are no shortage of "souls"
out there to fill the bodies!

hope this helps
