Hi Danielle,

Your questions have been asked many times.  If you care to read the archives, you would find the answers.
1. Wesak day.
2. To know oneself better.
3. To change oneself for the better, reduce greed, reduce hatred and reduce delusion of this existence.
4. I am not a "Buddhist priest".
5. Not my business to comment.
6. Buddhists do not subscribe to the idea of a creator god.  We believe in ourselves.
7. Rituals were not introduced by the Buddha.  The followers introduced them to satisfy their human emotions and social needs.  Buddhism is about living a peaceful and harmless life.

9. This is not Christianity.
10. I am not a monk.
11. All the Buddha's teachings are compiled into Buddhist text referred to as Tipitaka.

13. Buddhist practice is about living in peace with oneself and with others. It is not Karate!

Experience

I was brought up in the 50's as a Buddhist. For the past 40 years I have read numerous books on Buddhism and listened to numerous talks on Buddhism by well-respected and learned monks and lay teachers. I conduct Buddhist classes for parents of Sunday School children in a Theravada Buddhist Temple. My teacher was the late Chief Reverend, The Ven.
