Question
do you mean to say the buddha is the ultimate reality

in space does he have a definite form

do we retain our identity after death

Answer
Dear JNM
Buddhists would not  say that the Buddha is the ultimate reality. There are countless Buddhas throughout the Universe
- we are all Buddhas. The Buddha in his ultimate form is
beyond one and many. There is an expression NOT TWO in sankrit.

The Buddha has a Nirmanakaya body that appears in a definite form to confused beings. But the Buddha has many bodies some of which are formless.

But all these questions are difficult to answer. The usual
Buddhist answer is meditate and become enlightened and find out!

Some element of the mind continues beyond death. But the confused notion of Joe Soap with a New York accent disappears.

Hope this helps
