Question
When food is offered either to monks or to Buddha, what does one do with the food?  I guess I am confused on whether it gets eaten or eventually thrown out or just how it works???

Hi Nicole,

Thanks for asking me.

Especially Theravada, we don't offer food to the Buddha image.  As for monks, Theravada monks are not vegans.  Mahayana monks are.
When food is offered to the monks, of course the monks eat them.  As for the leftovers, I would eat them rather than to throw away.  As far as I am concerned, I have not wasted the food.
