Budget Travel/Sleeping in car.
Expert: Gary C. Dunn - 11/2/2007
QuestionI am very aware of dangers of sleeping in my car, but i travel 30 weekends out of a year, and sleeping in car is only thing ethical. As far as the subject of carbon monoxide, is it safe?
AnswerAs far as the subject of carbon monoxide, is it safe? --> Yes if you don't run the engine. If you have the engine on, then have a large vent-area open with your windows. One of our subscribers to THE CARETAKER GAZETTE died from carbon monoxide poisoning a few years ago by sleeping in his van with his heater running in the winter time - so avoid doing the same. Take care,
