Question
Hello Riley, my question is that I just got a female bird for my male bird. They are both blue parakeets. But the female is 3/4 white and 1/4 blue. Anyway we had her for about a day, and our male is pecking at her mouth and her feathers. We don't know if he is flirting with her or hes just being rude to her. When he does that to her she pecks at him back and he keeps pecking at her. I don't really know if the male is being a jerk or hes flirting with her. Please help.

Answer
Hi Lisa, thanks for posting!

Well, to tell you the truth, he IS being a jerk. The male bird doesn't like this female invading his territory. But what I did when I got a male for for my female, was I but them in separate cages beside each other for a week. When I put them back together, they did argue a bit but they got used to each other. Make sure you keep an eye on them though, budgies have been known to kill other budgies who invade their space.

I breed budgies. Only budgies. And I have exprienced all of the things I wrote when you asked me what kinds of questions can you and can't you answer.

Education/Credentials
I studied bugdies for quiet a while before recieving my first. I know what to do in an emergancy and also basic information people may need to take care of their bird(s).

Past/Present Clients
Whenever one of my good friends has a question about budgies, I'm the one they ask. I don't think of them as clients, I just would say I help them in times of emergancies or general knowledge around the subject
