Question
we just got some parakeets and one of them looks like it has a broke toe it is grey in color and swelled will it heal or what

Answer
Hi, Blonde,

I couldn't tell you...I'd have to see a picture of the toe.  It just depends on if this is truly what the problem is, when it occurred, extent of the injury, etc., etc.  If the toe is broken, it will just dangle from the point of the break.  Sometimes, keets get injuries to the feet/toes, which heal on their own.

Keets have grey toes...this is normal.  Chances are it will heal, but I don't have the benefit of actually seeing the injury/problem.  If in doubt, consult a certified avian vet.  The bird vet can tell you for sure what's going on.  Maybe you should take this bird back to the place where you bought it and exchange it or ask them to examine the bird for you.
