Question
Hi Leah! Today the male sat in the nest box with the female for the whole day. She is spending a lot of time in the concave bottom. Some of the feathers around her vent are also gone. The male put a foot up on the female and fed her. Is she getting ready to lay? Also, I say a lot of her poop in the cage, the big kind. Reply

Answer
I wouldn't be surprised if she has one by the time you read this answer.  The male may sometimes go in with the female, but don't be surprised if she's a bit aggressive toward him.  Its pretty rare for them to get along enough that he can stay in for the whole day.  That will probably change once she has eggs.  Keep an eye on them, and watch for eggs.
