Subject: New Female Budgie Not singing

Question
This is the second day I have had my female budgie. She has only chirped once for a short time since I got her. Is this normal?

Answer
Hi Gretchen!

This is perfectly normal with a newer budgie! Females are not as talkative, also. Males usually enjoy chirping more, but females make great pets. If you really think something's wrong then take your budgie, cage and all, outside, weather permitting. If you bought this female from a pet store then it is possible that she just misses the company of other birds, and being outside and hearing other birds might help her.

Hope this helps!
Erika
