Budgies/Budgie toenail problems

Question
My budgie's toenails are long. I have tried clipping them myself, which is normally very traumatic! I've also taken her to a vet and had them clip them but they keep growing rather quickly. I've read that sandpaper and cement perches are not good for budgies' feet but I can't help wondering if there is something I can place in her cage to keep the toenails trim. She has a cuttle bone and mineral block but rarely uses them. Will I have to keep trimming her nails every month or is there a better way? Thank you!

Answer
Hi Lauren,

I have not found a better way of doing it, something that has to be done around 30-45 days for most budgies. Those perches you speak of are definitely a waste of money, I would steer clear of them as they are not good for their feet.
