Budgies/Birds in Averies

Question
Hi. I have 2 pet budgies and two pet cockatiels who live in an avery together. We'd like to get some quails but we don't know if they will attack the badgies. We've read about quails attacking other quails. Will it be okay?

Answer
Hi, Mel,

It depends on the individual birds involved.  Some birds attack other birds and some birds don't.  I've had button quail with budgies and cockatiels in the past and found that the quail were very disturbing to the other birds because the quail mess around at night and were constantly running back and forth on the bottom of the aviary.  Budgies can be very annoying to other birds, including cockatiels, so it's possible an annoying budgie could get picked on by a quail.
