Question
Hello, recently my budgie some how got is oe nail caught and ripped it off of the foot a bit. His foot was bleeding for a while but now has stoped. His nail is still attached a bit to the foot and the blood has dried up and looks like a little scab. What should i do about his foot and his to nail. I think it would be best to let the cut heal naturally but the toe nail is hanging of so i dont know what to do about that.

Answer
Hi, John.

I don't know how much you know about birds, but the toenail needs to come off or be cut off.  I recommend you take your budgie to an avian veterinarian to have this fixed.  I'd really have to see the injury in person to tell you exactly what needs to be done.  Without seeing the injury myself, I can't tell you what to do and you doing something you're not sure of can result in more damage.  This bird really needs to be seen by a bird vet.
