Question
hi!
ONE OF MY MALE AND FEMALE LAYED EGGS AND THE MALE KEEPS ON EATING A LITTLE FOOD, THEN BITING ON THE STRING I COVER HER CAGE WITH(ITS ATTACHED WITH THE BLANKET) DRINKING WATER AND THEN THE STRING IS GONE.THEN, HE GOES IN THE NESTBOX. WHY IS HE SWALLOWING THE STRING?
I GAVE HIM NESTING MATERIAL BUT HE WOULDN'T TAKE IT.

Answer
Katelyn,

Your bird is not swallowing string.  The string is going somewhere, but I assure you, your bird isn't eating it.

Keets don't use nesting material in their nesting boxes.  This is why they refused the nesting material you provided.

I can provide advice in raising healthy birds, handfeeding/weaning babies, some health problems, nail/beak/wing clipping, general husbandry, etc. I also have experience with racing/showing homing pigeons. I cannot diagnose specific illness over this website. If you suspect your bird is ill or if you have an emergency, contact a certified avian veterinarian or emergency pet clinic ASAP.
