Budgies/Nesting

Question
Hi,

My budgie just layed an egg yesterday and she sits on it allllll night and most of the day. But she comes out for a few minutes a lot during the day. I'm not really worried, but will the egg be warm enough for those little whiles without her? Thanks for listening.

Answer
Hi, Meg.  Thanks for posting!

The egg will be fine.  The female knows how long she can be off her egg(s).  She has to come out to defecate, drink, and sometimes eat.  Does she have a mate or is she a single female?  If she's a single female, the egg(s) she will lay are infertile.  Let me know the situation so I can give you further advice.
