Question
Hi, one of my 4 parakeets beaks is turning blue, and the cere has a red dot on it. Is this bad?

Answer
Hi Simone,

Your budgie's beak definately shouldn't be blue it's hard to diagnose without seeing your bird but sounds like he may have mange or mites both of which eat away at the beak and cere but are very treatable.
Take him to the vet or even just the pet shop and htey'll have a look and tell you which one your bird has.

I can answer any general question about budgies. Budgie behavior and taming techniques are my speciality. I will attempt to answer questions about breeding, but this area is not one of strong points. I also have a thorough knowledge of the diseases which affect these beautiful birds.

I am a practicing Veterinary Nurse, with years of hands on experience in taming and handling budgies as I have owned and cared for them since childhood.
