Budgies/chewing

Question
I have a female parakeet 1year old. She chews on everything which I know is normal for keets, I wanted to know if there are any woods that she should not chew on. Maybe ones that will splinter and hurt her.

Thanks,

Dee

Answer
Hi, Dee.  Thanks for posting!

Yes, parrots love to chew on things!  Have you tried different types of toys that are safe for chewing?  I don't know much about the types of wood that would splinter, but I would recommend you think about buying wood and/or wooden toys made especially for birds.  Check out my favorite parrot supply house for examples:

They sell wood you can make your own bird toys from, which would be ideal for your keet to chew on.
