how old to let a baby cockatiel get adopted,never had chicks before i am reading books but cannot find the answer thank you if you could help me

Hi, Annie.

In most circumstances, a baby cockatiel should be about 8 weeks old.  However, age isn't necessarily the issue here...it's whether the baby is weaned or not.  A cockatiel breeder shouldn't allow an unweaned baby to be adopted by someone until the baby is fully weaned from its parents and eating and drinking on its own.

I'm not sure if this answer fits your situation or not because you really haven't provided enough information about the particular situation.
