Question
the ring that was made them be able to be out in the sunlight. buffy gives it to angel. or sends it with oz whatever. But in the fallowing eps angel has to leave before sunlight. What happened to the gem. when buffys mom dies shouldn't angel not have to leave in the morning since he had the ring.

Answer
Oz delivered the ring to Angel (as seen in the Angel series) However Spike followed Oz to LA and kidnapped and tortured Angel to try and make him reveal the ring's whereabouts.  The ring was then stolen by the Vampire Spike hired to do the torturing and Angel had to fight to get it back.
After that he destroyed the ring to stop anything similar happening again.
