Hey, in season 7 when the First is introduced we are told two basic things about it a) it can't physically touch anyrhing and b) it can only appear as people who are dead. So why does it appear as Spike a lot as Buffy? I know she's died before but she is alive now

OK, you're correct on what the First can and cannot do, but the key phrase is "It can only appear as people who are dead". Considering that "dead" and "died" are the same things, it counts Buffy as one of the forms that it can take.

Consider this: When Buffy died, Faith was chosen as the next slayer. However, when Buffy was brought back by Xander, there were suddenly two Slayers (Xander did normal, human CPR). However, note that in Season 6 when Buffy died at the end to save the world, there was no third slayer picked out. Thats because Buffy died once, passed on her slayer heritage, and then died again. But when she came back (in season 7), she was completely resurrected by Willow's magic, meaning she really is "dead girl walking".
