Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Slipups.com question

Question
There is a slip up on (you geussed it) Slipups.com, and i thought i might clue in the clueless chick who submited the slip up.

Her slip up was that in Season 2 (school hard <episode), Spike told Angel he was his sire, but in a later episode (season 5 when Buffy gets staked) he talkes about Due siring him.  Ok, i know that techniquely this is a "slip up", but if i'm not mistaken, wasn't Spike talking about how (even though  Due was his Sire) Angel taught him the things he needed to know and ect;?  Because Due was to much of a nutcase to now what to do with a fledgling (?- or new vamp, whatever)?  Correct me if i'm wrong, but am i right?  -*Jinger

Answer
Hey Jinger - how are you?
I've had vigourous discussions with people over this very issue, and the best we've come up with is the fact that Angel is Spike's "Grand-Sire" which is what Spike was referring to when he says "You were my sire Man".  So I think your version of events is true too, that Spike took Angel on as his role model, so to speak, as well as his authority figure for being the one who sired Dru, who sired Spike.
Either that - or it was simply a slip up, but I don't think that Joss (hail the great man) Wheidon would make such a simple slip up.  I will check out the commentary (if there is any) over the weekend on School Hard and see if anything is said about it and let you know.  I always find commentaries so interesting - gives quite the insight into things you may or may not have realised before!

I hope this has helped!
Leanne.
