Question
Has any of the Buffyverse books ever explained the the comment that Caleb made right before he poked Xander's eye out: "so you're the one who sees"

Thanks.

Answer
Hello Marie-Caroline,

I doubt very much that there might be a book that explains what you're looking for, but I have the answer anyway.

In Season 7, in the episode "Potential" there is a possibility that Dawn could be a slayer. It is only towards the end that Dawn realizes that she is not and passes on the weapon to the girl who is a potential, and Xander sees this act. At the end of the show, Xander explains how he sympathizes with Dawn, as he has seen his friends become slayer, witch, demon, even 'furry once a month'.

He then says "I see all this becasue no one is watching me".

Caleb was part of the First, so it's only logical that he would know what was said, hence his mocking of Xander.

Hope this helps.
Josh.
