do you know if the tatoo that faith has on her arm really has a meaning or is it just something that was made up?

Hi I'm so sorry this took along time, it was a question that actually needed some looking up!
Although the show never stated why Faith had thise tatoo, there are a number of meanings it could hold.
1. The tatto contains 2 images, this could mean that FAith is confused, unsure of whether she is good or bad.
2. The two images are opposites, possibly this is Faith seeing herself as Buffy's opposite, light to dark etc.
3. The thorns are fairly self explantory, you can't touch Faith without getting hurt, physically or emotionally.
4. The waves allude to Faith's love of sharp things, knives etc.
