Question
We have 240,000 miles on our Buick & the transmission has seemed to have gone out. It runs until the car warms up, then it sounds loud with hard shifts or sometimes does not go into any gear at all. We believe we need a rebuilt transmission, but is it worth it on a car with this kind of mileage. If we can get a transmission at a junk yard, is there a possibility of us getting one with low mileage? Thank you for your help.

Answer
A rebuilt is about $1800.00... it depends on how much you like the car, as to "if it's worth it". Yes, it is possible to get a low mileage tranny, from a salvage yard. If it is still "in the car" check the odeometer for miles. If not, try to find what mileage the vehicle it came fro, had on it.
