Question
My water pump is leaking on my 1999 Buik Lasabre, I think it needs replaced. If that is the case, my problem is i'm not sure how to do it. I am aware of were it is, but just some helpful instructions would be great.

Answer
The best thing is to get a Chilton's Manual for your car. You have to remove the serpentine belt, and any other equipment on the front of the engine, to access the water pump. Once you have cleared the way to where you can see it...remove all the bolts, (about 5-7) lift it off. Then scrape all the old gasket off, clean the surface of the engine where it attaches real well. Then coat the new gasket with  some silicon based adhesive.(both sides of the gasket) Then adhere it to the new pump, and put into position, making sure it is not bent, or folded. Put a couple of bolts in place, line them up and turn them in about 2-3 turns. Then get all bolts started, and tighten them to about 25 inch lbs torque. That is easy, if you use a 3/8 " drive rachet and tighten pretty good.(Not excessively) replace ell items removed, including the belt. Fill radiator, and you'll be "good to go".
