Question
I am finishing 3 apartments on the second floor of a commercial building and the inspector is asking me for door closer to be install in the main entrance door of each apartment i am not sure if i need to do so by code please help me with this thank you.

Answer
Hi Andres -

Typically the door between an apartment and the corridor would be fire rated, and fire doors must be self-closing.  Apartments are at high risk for fires, and if there was a fire within an apartment, the door must close to prevent smoke and flames from compromising the corridor.
