Building Codes and Inspections/Wind effect on sliding glass door

We are about to get hit with Sandy and wanted to know if our slider can withstand the prolonged wind gusts. I am not sure what brand we have.

We live in Maryland, doors installed in 2002, north facing, double pane with dividers in between the outside and inside panes.

Thanks for your help.

Honestly, I don't know. Doors have tempered glass which can be tough, but in hurricane conditions, it's not just the wind pressure, but projectile objects that can go not only through windows and doors, but some wall systems also. If in doubt, installing plywood over the exterior would probably give you a reasonable level of protection.

Be safe!
