Building Homes or Extensions/Actual size of a stud

Question
Is the actual size of a stud 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 92 1/4 in size.  I live in California and do not know if it varies through out the U. S. Thanks for your response

Answer
Hi Tom,
All studs (2"x4") today are 1 1/2" x 3 1/2".
The length will vary from store to store. If "stud" is specified, they will usually be the 92 1/4" you mentioned.
But not always. Often they are a full 8' and are called studs.
Please ask if this is not enough information...
