Once the wood joists are located, brackets can then be installed with lag screws.  



Question:  If high hats are 7/8" and drywall is 5/8" this equals 1-1/2" thickness before hitting drywall.  Will a 3" screw be enough grip seeing as only 1-1/2" will enter wood?



Also, at points where there is no high hat but joist is 7/8" above drywall, what happens when screw is tightened?  Won't drywall be crushed?
