I have a small home, and the master bedroom is 12x14,the closet is 7x2.5 and small bathroom.I would like to take out the existing closet to give me 2.5 feet to my bedroom and add a walk in closet in the rear which would take away the only window I have,thereby adding a window on the side wall. I have a side yard that is about 25 feet wide. Is it better to add a new masterbedroom or the latter?

If you can stand the disruption, the renovations will be the more economical way to go...but you need to consider if in the end you have all you want.
The addition however, can be exactly as you plan. While it will be a little more expensive, there will be little mess inside and a great new room. (keeping the old one for guests)
