Question
My garage floor slab was poured yesterday, The apron is not level to the garage door when closed. Contractor came back 24 hrs later cut groves 4' back from door line and out onto the apron. He then mixed sand and concrete and skim coated 6' area until slab was level with garage door when closed. Question: was this the right way to correct the problem or should he have cut out 6' and repoured?

Answer
Hi Jim, if the repair is done properly (and it seems like he went through the right procedures) then you should be okay provided you approve of the repair work. i.e. color, finish etc...I think you should get something in writing though that if the repair begins to crack and fall apart within 4 or 5 years the contractor will repair it or tear it out and repour it.  Some repairs may look awesome and then break down over time.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
