Question
I HAVE A 1960'S 5 ROOM RANCH AND IT HAD A CAR PORT THAT WAS MADE INTO 2 ROOMS.  I WANT TO PUT A BAY WINDOW 9' BY 5' IN THE GABLE END, THERE IS A 28" WINDOW IN THE SPACE NOW WITH A HEADER DO I NEED TO PUT A HEADER IN FOR THE NEW BAY WINDOW THANKS FOR ANY HELP I NEED AN ANSWER FAST

Answer
Hi Judith, if the width of the bay window is wider than the window you are replacing then chances are good that you will need to add a header to accommodate the width of the new bay window.  The good news is that it is on a gable end and you don't have a lot of structural weight in this area so you should be able to add the new window header without a lot of difficulty.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
