Question
I WANT TO BUILD A SMALL CAMP IN VERMONT 25'X25' WITH A 6'X14' BUMP-OUT IN FRONT.  I NEED IT TO BE AS LOW TO THE GROUND AS POSSIBLE.  CAN I USE A FLOATING SLAB WITH NO FOOTING WALLS.  IF I USE A VAPOR BARRIER CAN I BE CONFIDENT THERE WILL NOT BE A MOISTURE PROBLEM. OR... WHAT IS THE LEAST EXPENSIVE SYSTEM FOR GETTING THE FLOOR - AND THUS THE PEAK OF THE ROOF AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE GROUND. THANKS, DAVE

Answer
Hi David, I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here.  If you want a cheap and easy building to build then yes you are better off doing a slab with a moisture barrier underneath it.  As far as simplicity goes, an A-frame is probably one of the simplest roof/house designs.  Basically it is a roof framed up over a slab.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
