Question

The 2nd floor rooms of my home are Yellow pine 2x10 on 12 inch centers. the span is 16 feet.
When I have the 70 sheets of drywall delivered can I expect to place approximately 1200 lbs. in the center of a room without a problem?
What would be the most weight that I could place in the center of a room? the footprint of the load is 4'x12'.

Answer
Kris,  I am out of town so don't have all my normal references.  Your joists should carry 40 pounds per SF, which should make you good for 1920.  1200 pounds of drywall and a couple of 200 pound men starts to get a bit close.  As a temporary load everything is probably fine, but if there were a way to make two stacks would still be best.  If your are ready to hang rock, the load won't be there long.  Another choice would be to add a stiffener below until the pile dwindles, but I think maybe your downstairs is already finished
