Question
QUESTION: My family desperately needs more space.  We live in a tiny two bedroom mobile home.  We are thinking of buying another used single wide and parking it about 10 feet from the existing one and building a grage and big family room to connect the two. We can't afford to buy or move.  Is this possible or feasible?

ANSWER: Hi Tina,
If you are located in a moderately warm climate, it will be feasible
to do this.
A cold climate will make it
VERY hard to heat!!

Please mail me back and tell me where you live (what state)
and we'll see what we can come up with...

QUESTION: I live in a very warm climate....Dexter, Georgia (about in the middle of the state)  If it tells you anything, we had the air conditioner on all during Christmas, and even this morning getting ready for work, we had a fan on!  You know, you see all kinds of books, websites, tv shows, etc to help you repair or remodel houses, but you never see "This Old Mobile Home" do ya?  It's really hard to get help/advice on mobile home repairs.

Answer
Hi Tina,
Wow, lucky you!! Its snowing here and should be around 0 degrees with the wind chill factor tomorrow.

So, yes, its feasible. Try to make sure the 2 homes are on the same level, it will save you many headaches later.
As far as the garage is concerned, please use a poly barrier between it and the rest of the living space. Carbon monoxide is a bad thing.

If you have any specific questrions as your work progresses, please ask!

Happy New Year,
Dave
