Building Homes or Extensions/room over garage

Question
we want to finish off a room in the attic of our gambrel roof garage at our cabin, for over flow.  It is not heated in the winter.  What we what to know is what if any insulation etc. do we need? in the garage or flooring. It is a season place in Wisconsin.  We have electric baseboard and all wiring is done, but we want to finish it this summer, with drywall etc. any ideas of where to start?

Answer
Hi Mike,

In the garage ceiling, use fiberglass batts filling as much of the void as possible, with poly below that (as much for exhaust protection as vapor).
Then tighten all cracks around doors/windows etc with minimal expansion spray foan before insulating the walls. Use 16" minimum blown cellulose in the ceiling where possible and then your drywall.

I'm assuming you're using this in winter....
Normally I'd say don't use the electric heat, but with fuel the way it is, you're doing the right thing!
If I can help further, please ask...
Best of luck,
Dave
