Building Homes or Extensions/uncaulking

Question
Hello

I have to correct a big mistake.  I caulked doors and baseboard with a silicon based caulking.  It is all rubbery now after it is dry.  Is there any way to take off this silicon bases caulking so that I can recaulk it with regular caulking?

Thank you,  Gabe

Answer
Hi "G",

You may run into peeling of paint if you just try pulling off the silicone.
So I would try it in an inconspicuous area... if that doesn't work, use a good sharp razor type knife and cut along both the base and wall (door and wall) and slowly peel away the caulk. Thats the only way I've found that works...still may need to touch-up paint..
Best of luck,
Dave
