Question
I have posted my question with photos on the Internet, here is the link. http://boards.hgtvpro.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=8181095481&f=9391023982&m=114103196...

The 1st 3 photos are of the house that is to be renovated, the last is of what the roof may look like when finished. What I require is some detail plans on how to make the roof a reality. Thanks.

Answer
I think the best solution would be to continue the gable out to the new porch  face.  I don't see any advantage in turning it into a shed roof for a few feet.  The complications of the shed meeting the gable, yet retaining the eave line are insurmountable in my opinion.  Your picture 4 does not give a side view of what is going on, It does not appear that their gable ends at the house line.  If that place is near you, get more pictures and/or ask to see the framing.  Another approach would be to turn it into a hip.
