Building Homes or Extensions/addng decorative columns

Question
We are in the process of building a new home. We are our own general contractor and do quite a bit of work ourselves.  We would like to add some interior decorative columns.  We are at the drywall stage at the moment.  At what stage is it the best (or easiest) point to add these columns, after the flooring is installed or before.   The flooring underneath will be 3/4" hardwood. Thanks for your reply.

Answer
Hi Ed, if your columns have an adjustable base or capitol then they should be installed after the flooring.  Cutting and fitting your flooring around a column base may tend to get iffy as far as how it finishes out.   I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
