Building Homes or Extensions/block wall

Question
I have a interior block wall painted. Can i apply drywall joint compound directly on to wall to make the surface smoother or is there any other solution ?

Answer
Hi Chris, I have done this before and it works fine.  You might want to take some 80 grit sand paper and rough the painted surface up a bit to improve adhesion but other than that it is a simple procedure.  Put your skim coats on in a couple of layers.  Let the first layer dry completely and then sand with a wet sanding sponge before additional coats.  The flatter and smoother each coat goes on the better the next coat.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
