Question
Dear Bruce,
I try to put dry wall on ceiling in the basement and want to make it as higher as it can go. Can I nail the dry wall directly onto the structure wood without leaving any space between the air duct (out-going and in-taking))and dry wall. Please advise. Thanks. JZ

Answer
Hi JZ, I don't see any reason why you can't.  As long as the ducts don't show signs of moisture accumulation on them.  If the ducts are wet or get wet occasionally and don't have insulation on them, then you might want to insulate them before drywalling over the top of them.   I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
