Building Homes or Extensions/durock planter

Question
Can Durock be used instead of PT wood for a 5'x5' planter? How do you think it would it hold up to holding dirt on one side and sitting in dirt? I'm planning to tile the exterior side. I can't use PT because it's my herb garden and the chemicals leach in to the soil and food. I'm replacing a planter I made four years ago of a special wood that allegedly doesn't rot, but did warp and chip from my lawn man's weed wackers.

Answer
Hi monika, the Durock itself is a good product and can be used in wet conditions interior or exterior.  My only comment to you would be, how are you going to hold the planter together?  The Durock still needs some kind of framework to be attached to.  It is not capable of being attached to itself so you will need at least studs of some sort in the corners to screw the Durock to.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
