Building Homes or Extensions/reaction of caulking to siloxane

Question
Hi Bruce - Me again.  You talked about the reaction of certain caulking to the siloxane.  If the mason uses the urethane caulking that you suggested, Vulcum or Eucolastic, do you know the reaction to the Siloxane?  If not, do you know a caulking that is o.k. to use with the Siloxane or should I contact the manufacturer and ask them?

Answer
Hi again ali, the urethane caulks are pretty compatible with most products.  Generally speaking when using caulking of any sort it is best done after the sealant rather than before.  If your mason has used a product with the siloxane then he might know if it is compatible.  And yes the manufacturer would probably know.  Otherwise as I suggested you can have him do a test with the caulking he plans on using and see if there are any problems with it. I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
