Building Homes or Extensions/waterproof exterior stucco

Question
Please tell me the best way and product to waterproof real exterior stucco that has been painted several times over the years. The house was built arond 1930. Thank you so much.

Answer
The best real stucco work is usually not painted.  If yours has been painted, you probably need to stay in the paint approach.  I have had good luck sealing exterior finishes by using elastomeric paint.  It is a latex product, easy to apply, quite water proof, and lasts a long time.
