Question
i am re-shingling my garage, it has a 12/12 pitch.. what is the safest way to secure myself while installing the shingles.

Answer
Hi alfred,
A good harness is a must.  They can be purchased for 30-60 dollars from any building supply store. Here are some examples at the following website.
http://www.snugharness.com/Harnesses/Universal-Harnesses/

Once you have the harness you can take a good 3/4" rope, secure it on the ground on the opposite side of the roof you are working on.  Throw it over the roof and then attach the rope to your harness "lanyard".  By a series of knots you can adjust your rope to allow for the move up the roof.  When you get to the other side you will need to move your rope connection to the other side of the house and repeat.

The main thing is make sure the rope is secured to something solid, capable of holding your weight.  Check your rigging often for abrasions and weakening.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
