Question
We have a transportable holiday home in Perth.Exterior is finished in hardiplank.Have added more hardiplank to cover the stumps.Does the unpainted  hardiplank need to have some primer put on prior to painting to match in with the existing??

Answer
Hi Elizabeth, if the Hardi is a flat white color then it is pre primed and you shouldn't need to prime it before painting.  If it is a dull light gray then it is unprimed and needs to be primed.  I generally put a primer coat regardless because the factory primer is pretty thin.  I hope this information helps feel free to write again regarding this or other matters, sincerely bruce e johnson..bejohnsonconsulting.com
