Building Homes or Extensions/Noise in walls when windy

Question
QUESTION: In a specific place in the wall of my house when the wind blows it sounds like the brick ties are in tension as a pinking sound increases then decreases as the wind drops.
Is this an issue, do i need to get it looked at? Is is dangerous?

ANSWER: Hi Hewey, that would be a stretch for a brick house to make pinking sounds when wind blows.  I would venture a guess that it is probably a damper in your airconditioning system or in an exhaust fan somewhere, maybe over the stove or in a bathroom? These backdraft dampers are made to keep dust and debris from blowing back through an outside vent.  It is a common noise and sounds like a metal flap pinging or tinking.  This will happen with the least of wind and especially when the wind gusts.  Check this out first and then get back to me. QUESTION: No air con Bruce this is the UK. This wall has no ducting vents windows doors etc. The heating is hot water radiators and no pipes run in this wall.

Answer
hi again Hewey, well I don't know what else to tell you.  If the wind is really blowing hard, I guess it could put some strain on a poorly constructed wall.  Perhaps you have a hole in the brick and air is getting inside and creating strange sounds.  Without hearing it in person I  really can't comment further.  sincerely bruce e johnson
